Welcome To The George Eliot Website

THIS WEBSITE LAUNCHED ON MAY 08 2011

Welcome to our website devoted entirely to George Eliot and her literary works.

George Eliot (the pen-name of Mary Anne Evans) was one of the most popular English writers of the Victorian era. Her novels, poems and short stories have received much praise over the years since their publication and she is regarded as a master in the analysis of human motives in her works.

Here, you can download the entire George Eliot Collection for your reading pleasure including all seven George Eliot novels, twelve of George Eliot's poems and four George Eliot short stories as well as discover more about the woman herself and what her contemporaries thought of her.

The George Eliot website is ideal for both people studying George Eliot and her work in school/college/university as well as people who simply want the delight of reading the stories from one of the greatest writers of the millenia.

Copyright of her works have long since expired and her novels, poems and short stories are now in the public domain. Despite this, we found that some of her works (most notably The Spanish Gypsy) are not easily available on the Internet, so we worked painstakingly hard to convert them into a suitable format and publish them here on our website. In addition to the man-hours we've expended in bringing The George Eliot Collection to you, the day-to-day running of this website is quite costly. Therefore, we ask that if you have found this website a useful resource and if you can afford it, please could you make a donation towards it's upkeep.
